The McCausland lineage
The McCausland lineage
Running into dead ends is the story of researching the McCauslands, especially, first exactly when and where Andrew immigrated from Ireland and then finding his son, James McCausland. Family stories from the Annie Cooney (his wife) family tell of his abandonment of his wife and two children, possibly involving a relationship with another woman. In 1881, Annie and her boys are living with her parents in London City, her second child Charles was born in January, 1980.
Neither Michael McCauslin, my nephew, nor I have had any luck with the search in Canadian sources for James after disappearing from Annie and his children. The same deadend is true for finding Andrew McCausland in Ireland. Our hunch is that he was from northern Ireland, possibly Armagh. Michael is pursuing Y-DNA research for clues from the past.
