Archambault lineage

Relationship between Jacques Archambault and the children of John W. McCauslin 

Jacques Archambault c. (1604–1688) was born in Dompierre-en-Aunis, La Rochelle, France; he came to New France from La Rochelle in March, 1646, arriving in June, 1646.  He was engaged in a contract of three years by Legardeur de Repentigny, director of the new Compagnie des Habitants/Indentured, called the Companie de la Nouvelle-France. (more about the Legardeurs de Repentigny. click here)  He died on February 15, 1688, in Montreal, Ile-de-Montreal, Quebec.  He is commemorated for digging the first well on the Isle de Montreal.

Laurent Archambault (1642-1730) was born in St-Xandre, LaRochelle, Aunis, France, coming with his parents to New France in 1646.  He died at Pointe-aux-Trembles, Ile-de-Montreal in 1740.

Jean Louis Archambault (1838-1903) born in St-Roch-de-l’Achigan, L'Assomption, Québec, Canada.  He immigrated to South Bend, Indiana, after the American Civil War; he found work as a blacksmith at the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company  and joined St. Joseph's Parrish where he and his family are listed as members in 1868 (1868 list of families). He died on March 19, 1903 in South Bend.
