Cooney Family Lineage

    The Cooneys, from John Patrick Cooney to John William McCauslin


      This is the 1850 US Census
       listing the Patrick Cooney and family when they emigrated from London, Ontario, and lived in Michigan in southern St. Clair County, joining the effort to create a New Ireland.



        Patrick John "Pat" Cooney (1817 - 1891) Born in Nenagh or Tommevare, Tipperary, Ireland, United Kingdom and he  died on December 30, 1891, in London, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada.  When he immigrate to Nova Scotia, Canada is not known, but it is thought that he married Hannah Agnes Kennedy there.  In the 1840’s they were in London and moved then to Michigan where Hannah’s father, Patrick “Pa” Kennedy, had gone to found a New Ireland in what is now St. Clair County north of Detroit.

        Margaret Anne Annie Cooney (1847 - 1931) was born in London, Middlesex County, Canada on August 31, 1947 and died on October 31, 1931; she is listed once in a US census in the year 1850 in the Town of Brockway, St. Clair County, Michigan.  She married James Jacob McCausland in 1872.

        Augustus Holmes "Buck" McCauslin/McCausland (1876 - 1942) Born on June 16, 1876 in London Township, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada and died November 2, 1942 in South Bend, St Joseph, Indiana, United States.  He came to the US in 1899 and the 1920 Census notes  he became a naturalized citizen, 1918.  His mother's birthplace is listed as Michigan.
