Edwin "Ted" Turnock and Helen Muriel Stuckey Turnock and family
Helen Stuckey and Ted Turnock, c. 1913, were married that year on December 31 when they eloped to St. Joseph, Michigan. Their daughter June saved the marriage announcement from Helen's parents which says the marriage took place in August, 1913.
The two young lovers were neighbors. In the 1910 Census of Clay Township in St. Joseph County, the Turnock and Stuckey families are listed next to each other other as dwellings number 93 and 94.
June Harriet McCauslin, born June 16, 1914, is seated in front of her parents and her maternal grandparents (Hattie Dunham Stuckey and Charles L Stuckey) around Christmas, 1914. There appears to be a Christmas tree behind Hattie and above her head is the formal portrait of Ted's family.
Their second child, Edwin "Bud," was born on October 31, 1916, in South Bend when the family was living on St. Louis St. Helen Muriel Turnock, called Sis by her family, was born on August 14, 1918, and the family was then living on Howard St.
This formal portrait was probably taken in 1939 when my Aunt Sis married Nicholas Amrhein. Her sister June was her matron of honor; the two sisters wore the same dress. Her daughter Theresa was horrified when her mother came home with her bridal dress and one just like it for her sister as matron of honor! In a cousins' visit with me and Mary in August 2017 we were able to show them why that happened!
